There is no real analysis unless there is a method to put in order and explain each analysed element. This method drafted by Net Semiology consists of a reference scheme divided into 11 parts: the communicative Registers.

The communicative Registers give the opportunity of identifying and classifying the different communicative aspects of a web site, such as its structure, the kind of identity, and the choice of sound. Elements of semiotics, usability and web design indicate the communicative power also relating to content (such as texts and graphics) or to the way they are presented (the ease of navigation).

It is a complete structure which binds content and architecture together to assure successful web pages.

To design a web site, to tell what its structure of information will be, to tell if it is a portal or a webzine may suffice to design a nice web site but it won't be enough to design a web site which communicates effectively.
